SOFTWARE IDENTIFIES AGGRESSIVE ACTIONS AND INFORMS THE POLICE
Austin (UTX, USA). The Texas University created a software which uses images taken by CCTV systems to give a meaning – friendly, suspect or aggressive – to actions while detecting potentially dangerous behaviours in real time. This could be a potential remedy for shortcomings by the surveillance personnel and, after the testing phase, it could be implemented in railways stations, airports and stadiums. Data are positive because so far the precision degree is equivalent to 80%. The system acquires and interpret situations by associating a movement to a meaning. Body images are separated in bordering sections so that more micro-movements can be analysed. The software then studies interactions among different sections. If an individual is followed hard by another one or the movement speed is similar to a punch, then actions are labelled as aggressive. In this case the system will attract the attention of the police
