London (UK). British terrorist alarms occurred last summer are having considerable consequences in air travels. Companies and airports are conforming to this new situation too. The BAA – British Airports Authority – the owner of most British airports such as Heathtrow, Gatwick and Stansted, has recently announced that about 500 new security staff members are expected to be hired. The company is also willing to invest huge sums in X-ray equipments and metal detectors. The “extra” personnel will cost BAA about 16 million pounds per year on top of 200 million pounds already spent every year, whereas the cost of the new equipments will be about 7 million pounds. Airlines themselves asked the BAA for more efforts in the security field since passengers queues have become extremely long owing to the attack attempts last August.
