New York (USA) – Thanks to increasing antiterrorism measures and security claims biometric technologies are developing all over the world. In particular, according to the last surveys this seems to benefit companies manufacturing face identification solutions. A recent study carried out by Frost & Sullivan shows that at present the market leading devices are technologies applied to the new biometric passports and all those techniques that make it possible to identify people through the face. In 2005 the biometric sector developed a global turnover of 186 million dollars and a 27,5% increase per year is now expected up to 1021 million dollars in 2012. According to Frost & Sullivan, the sector high prices could curb its development especially against the competition of fingerprint reading systems (non –AFIS). A global adoption of biometric systems for face identification is expected by the year 2008.
